When you have the need to minimize your business downtime of your portal to a minimum the tool near-Zero Downtime Maintenance for SAP Portal  (nZDM/portal) might be a perfect solution for you.

With help of the nZDM for portal the business downtime of nZDM is reduced to only some minutes. It easy to implement security related patches or SPs without impact on business packages or access to the Business Suite systems. In addition to implementing SPs it is possible to change Portal Content or KMC-configuration, patch JVM or implement updates on your OS.

How does it work?

The nZDM for portal procedure uses a clone concept. It is independent from the clone tool which will be used. The SAP Landscape Virtualization Management (LVM) 2.0 works with nZDM for portal in a process integrated way.

Database changes on the productive system are recorded and replayed to the clone system. Thus the user can nearly work as usual while the clone is updated.
The business downtime is reduced to a couple of minutes: it is a log off, log on.

Supported Releases:
SAP NetWeaver 7.0 including EHP 2, SP11 or higher
SAP NetWeaver 7.3, SP7 or higher
SAP NetWeaver 7.3 including EHP 1, SP2 or higher
SAP NetWeaver 7.4, SP2 or higher

In the last year it was offered as a project solution in combination with an AGS service for example. Based on experiences we made together with customers the tool is now on the way to be general available. It is planned to have it available for download in the SL Toolset with the next SP.

In parallel to the internal validation we offer a beta shipment (customer validation) for customers who are interested to test it with direct standard development support.

What is needed to test the beta of nZDM for portal?

Send me an email or write a CSS message (BC-UPG-OCS-ZDM) and ideally already inform about landscape and planned timeline:

Based on a Test and Evaluation Agreement (TEA) we will ship nZDM for portal on a short notice.

If you are not planning to run a test in the next weeks but you are interested in nZDM for Portal and would like to get further info, please get in contact with me as well.
